NICHOLAS VON STERNBERG |
Born: 22 January 1951, New York City, N.Y., USA, as Nicholas Josef von Sternberg, son of dir Josef von Sternberg [1894-1969].
Education: Film Department of the University of California, Los Angeles [UCLA] [graduated 1973].
Career: He was first introduced to the film set during the prod of 'The Saga of Anatahan/The Last Woman on Earth' [dir + ph: Josef von Sternberg], filmed in Kyoto, Japan, in 1952. While at UCLA he became an apprentice to doph Hal Mohr.
Appeared in the doc's 'Josef von Sternberg, the Man Who Made Dietrich' [1994, David Thompson; BBC-tv] & 'Marlene Dietrich: Her Own Song' [2000, David Riva; ph: Adolfo Bartoli, Christine Burrill & Uli Kudicke]. Was interviewed for the book 'A Woman at War. Marlene Dietrich Remembered' [2006; edited by J. David Riva].
