Born: 5 August 1948, Catonsville, Maryland, USA, as Timothy Carl Suhrstedt, son of Carl Louis [1919-2006] and Jean [1923-2003] Suhrstedt.

Education: Catonsville High School; Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania [graduated in 1973]; Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, Maryland [Photography]; American Film Institute [AFI], Los Angeles [graduated in 1976].

Career: Started as prod asst at Maryland Public Television [MPT]; became dir and ph [1974-76]. Went to Hollywood in 1976.

Ph commercials.

Member of the ASC since 1996.

Was faculty member Cinematography of the AFI Conservatory for the 2001-02 academic year.

Married to costume designer Deborah Lynn Scott.

Awards: ASC TV Award nom [1994] for 'Chicago Hope' [pilot]; 'Emmy' Award [1995] for 'Chicago Hope' [ep 'Over the Rainbow'].
