For some years now I have been researching Russian and Soviet cameramen, and have published a book entitled 'Russian Mainstream Cinematography: The Silent Era' [2007]. It is now in its third edition. The book is about cameramen working in 1920s mainstream Soviet cinema and the poetics of visual style. I am currently completing a book-length monograph on the cameramen of the Soviet avant-garde of the 1920s: Eduard Tisse, Anatolii Golovnia, Andrei Moskvin, and Danylo Demutskii.
